This variant of placing cards upward is based on the Regard of Le Mat, the Fool. He is spiritual and he looks upward.
In the upward spread, the solution cards are placed above the problem card (reversed card).

This variant is much more attuned to Westerners and Japanese who are looking to work on the material and spiritual planes at the same time. For reasons of the rapid change in planetary consciousness, it is probable that the upward spread will soon be used equally in Japan.
